Learning to Wait for Light And the earth was waste and void; and darkness was upon the face of the deep: and the Spirit of God moved upon the face of the waters. And God said, Let there be light: and there was light. Genesis 1 : 2–3 (ASV 1901) Before God spoke light, Scripture gives us a glimpse of the world as it was: waste, void, and covered in darkness. No shape. No structure. No life. Just emptiness and obscurity. Yet even in the darkness, the Spirit of God was moving.

God speaks light into chaos, beginnings, formation, and the power of His Word. In the beginning God created the heavens and the earth.
